Design and Build Canopy Installation
The project consisted of the supply and installation of a steel canopy to the early year’s playground with the addition of rainwater goods and 6mm polycarbonate roofing making good existing soft playground and installation of curved benching. The project was problematic due to access restrictions, level of the site, close proximity to an overhead walk way and existing school building. All steel work was craned into position and a toughened 6mm polycarbonate sheet set in a powder coated frame installed to the canopy roof to take the weight if someone was to access the roof via the walkway bridge.
A large portion of the project was on a design and build basis including the rainwater goods, drainage and canopy layout. Six different trades were utilized on the project the majority playing an integral part in the positioning of the canopy all working to tolerance of 10-15mm. The canopy was installed perfectly with no issues this was due to good management and communications between trades all of which worked together to achieve the one goal.
The project was completed two weeks earlier than agreed and within the original budget much to the client satisfaction they particularly liked the bright colour scheme
Tomax worked well in the school, showing consideration for the school environment and budget limitations. Meetings, surveys and the work was carried out at times to suit the school. The work was completed on time, to a good standard and within budget, despite plans having to be changed to accommodate challenges with the groundworks.
