Gascony Hotel - Minehead
Room refubishments
We were asked by the proprietor of the Gascony Hotel in Minehead to aid in the refurbishment of the 2nd phase of the upgrade. We had completed the first phase 10 years ago which included extending the building and he was very impressed with the services and quality of the works and therefore asked us to return.
The project consisted of the refurbishment of 12 rooms including en-suite bathrooms, a full rewire of the hotel including new mains boards, alterations to radiators, tilling, sanitary installation, decoration and floor finishes. The client also made use of our joiner’s workshop we were also instructed to carry out the manufacture of all the bedroom furniture. Each room layout was completely different therefore each piece of furniture had to be bespoke made to ensure it fitted in the room neatly in an alcove or opening giving the guest the maximum floor space available. We supplied and installed new wardrobes, beside units, bedheads and desks all made and designed to meet the client’s needs.
We were given a very strict budget from the client and between our Design, Project Management and QS team this was achieved and the client was delighted with the results. The works were carried out during the off season to minimise any disturbance to the running of the business. However, it had to be finished in the 8 week timescale given to ensure the staff had enough time to dress the rooms and prepare the hotel ready for opening. This was achieved one week early.
